At La Mutable, we want to expand a format that we have already tested successfully with:
A short, affordable program designed to take people with no previous experience from absolute beginner to a functional level in a specific discipline.
We’re looking for teachers who would like to create these series with us in different disciplines: dance, yoga, Thai massage, and any others you’d like to propose.
The idea in a nutshell
- Groups open to complete beginners, with the goal that by the end of the series participants can join the community around that discipline (jams, open practice sessions, friendly games, regular classes, etc.).
- We’ve run series of 4 or 6 classes, lasting between 1 and 1.5 hours each. The format can be adapted to the facilitator’s preferences, and we’re also open to trying something different.
- Most series met once a week, but we’ve also successfully tried meeting twice a week.
- Prices range from €8 per class (when committing to the full series) to €15 for a drop-in class. We’re also open to discussing different pricing models.
- Language: Spanish or English.
What we’re looking for in a collaborating teacher
- Experience and confidence teaching your discipline.
- A willingness to think pedagogically: what does someone need to learn in class 1 in order to be able to do X by class 4?
How would we work together?
We’re preparing to launch new series in September and October. In September we’ll host two Minifestis, on the 5th and the 26th. The focus of these September Minifestis will be promoting the regular series that will begin immediately afterward.
These are the steps we’ll follow:
- An initial conversation to see whether the format fits your discipline and your vision.
- A meeting with all the series teachers to get to know each other and exchange ideas.
- A standalone workshop at a Minifesti—if possible.
- A regular outdoor series (in Viveros or another park).
